5 Secrets You Should Know To Keep Your Teeth White Forever

March 26, 2020

Everyone dreams of having a bright smile, but only a few people take the initiative to see that happen. What you don’t know is that restoring the pearl white color of your teeth is only a few secrets away. But first, you need to understand why the surface of your canines, incisors, premolars, and molars have a yellowish or greyish hue. Unwanted tinge tends to result from chain-smoking or poor dental hygiene. It may also be due to drinking excess tea or coffee.

You should know that apart from denying you a remarkable bright smile, yellow or grey teeth can also lead to low self-esteem. It is thus your responsibility to come up with ways that can help you get back your white pearls. In case your methods are taking too long to yield results, you should consider applying the five secrets below.

1. Use Whitening Toothpaste

Before you start exposing your teeth to a variety of expensive teeth whitening options, you should consider using a whitening toothpaste. There are so many varieties of these products on the market today. That includes charcoal toothpaste, gels, and rinses. The best part about this method is that it is inexpensive and effective if you do it right. You should, however, note that if your teeth are too yellowish, you may need to proceed to the other secrets below. But first, you need to try this out and see if it works for you.

The first step is to replace your conventional toothpaste with the whitening toothpaste. You should then cultivate good teeth cleaning habits. That is by cleaning your teeth twice a day- after you wake up and before going to bed. Each session should last two minutes. While brushing your teeth, move your toothbrush up and down and not side to side. That is going to ensure you cover a wide area and reach the gaps between your teeth. After a few days, you should be able to start noticing some changes.

2. Go For In-Office Teeth Whitening

If you feel like you need to have your teeth whitened within a short time, you may consider visiting your dentist for in-office teeth whitening. The technique is going to take you only a few days, and the results will be impressive. You can also consider going for other procedures like teeth shaping and filling of gaps. Thanks to pain-free dentistry, you don’t have to worry about any discomfort. During in-house dentistry, your dentist will apply a gel called carbide peroxide on the surface of your teeth to make them whiter.

While going for in-office teeth whitening, avoid UV light treatment since it can lead to teeth insensitivity. The only problem with the in-office teeth whitening technique is that it doesn’t last long. For that matter, you may consider teeth whitening trays, which are not only effective but also long-lasting. It is, however, expensive, especially if the trays are custom-made. Otherwise, the method can help you maintain white teeth for as long as you live.

3. Use Sodium Peroxide & Baking Soda

Backing soda is a mild bleach that can quickly help you achieve white teeth. You should, however, use it sparingly because prolonged usage tends to weaken the enamel. For effective results, mix small amounts of baking soda with sodium peroxide. Apply the mixture on your toothbrush and use it to clean your teeth. Make sure you brush gently and carefully since the mixture can be abrasive.

Rinse your mouth thoroughly with clean water as you spit it in the sink. The mixture is good at removing stains on the teeth and eliminating plaque and bacteria. After a few weeks, you will notice a drastic change. You can also use baking soda with water if at all the above mixture affects your teeth.

4. Perform Oil Pulling

Oil pulling is among the popular teeth whitening methods that work effectively. It is inexpensive and easy to perform, just like using a mouthwash. The method works by eliminating both bacteria and plaque from the mouth, thus whitening your teeth and keeping them from cavities. You may use other essential oils, but for impressive results, it is advisable to use high quality pure organic coconut oil.

To perform oil pulling, pour at most three spoons of pure coconut oil in your mouth. Swish it around for ten minutes or more. You can then spit it in the toilet and go about your business. The swishing helps the oil to eliminate any bacteria and access every part of your mouth. You should, however, make sure you don’t swallow the oil. That is to avoid letting bacteria reach your stomach and lead to stomach upset. Oil pulling also works like mouth wash by giving you fresh breath, and that is why this is a highly recommended method.

5. Make Use Of Whitening Strips

Dentists recommend the use of whitening strips if you are young with nicely shaped teeth. That is why you need to go for a dental checkup before opting for the teeth whitening technique. The method involves attaching plastic strips on your teeth for a maximum period of five minutes every day. The strips contain an active ingredient called peroxide, which whitens your teeth gradually.

The method, however, comes with challenges. That includes teeth insensitivity and uneven whitening of your teeth. That occurs mostly if you lack well-aligned teeth. Note that while applying whitening strips, they should not get in contact with your gums. That often leads to gum infection.

Each of the teeth whitening methods listed above work effectively. It only depends on the type of teeth you have. You should also keep in mind that processes such as the use of whitening strips are only applicable if you are young. You should thus confirm with your dentist before taking any step. Applying the methods above can help you regain white teeth and make you confident once again.
